Our rich heritage represents many historical themes including Aboriginal, convict, migration, regional development, industry, architecture, creative arts, LGBTQI+ and much more.
The heritage we protect and celebrate takes many forms, including:

- intangible.
We work with communities and heritage professionals across New South Wales to manage significant places and objects by:
- supporting the work of the Heritage Council of NSW
- listing items on the State Heritage Register
- recording sites and maintaining information databases
- issuing and enforcing permits and approvals for impacts to heritage listed items of State significance and relics
- awarding heritage grants.
