Since the removal of grazing above 4,500 feet in 1958, changes in the plant cover have been measured on permanent transects, quadrats and on grazing trials. A variety of methods has been used, depending on local conditions, including line intercept and quadrat analyses, stereoscopic photography, plant yield, and changes in livestock weight.
