Pultenaea campbellii - removal from vulnerable species list
The Scientific Committee, established by the Threatened Species Conservation Act, has made a Final Determination to remove Pultenaea campbellii from Schedule 2 of the Act by omitting reference to this species as a Vulnerable Species. The omission of species from the Schedules is provided for by Part 2 of the Act.
NSW Scientific Committee - final determination
The Scientific Committee has found that:
1. Pultenaea campbellii Maiden & E. Betche, a shrub, is currently listed as a Vulnerable Species on Schedule 2 of the Threatened Species Conservation Act.
2. At the time of listing the species was known from only eleven locations and was not known to occur in any conservation reserve.
3. At least 23 new localities have been recorded since 1988 and at least 30 localities in total are known.
4. The total population in 1999 is about two million plants.
5. Pultenaea campbellii has been recorded from Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where there are an estimated 40,000 individuals.
6. There is no currently identified threat to the survival or evolutionary development of Pultenaea campbellii but appropriate management will be required to maintain an adequate soil seedbank of the species.
7. In the light of 3, 4, 5, and 6 above, the Scientific Committee is of the opinion that Pultenaea campbellii does not satisfy the criteria for listing as a Vulnerable Species and should be omitted from Schedule 2 of the Act.
