Site-managed species

Site-managed species are threatened plants and animals that can be secured by conservation projects at specific sites.

Almost half of all threatened species in New South Wales are best managed at this level.

Site-managed species are protected by locating them at specific sites. This allows critical threats such as predators to be managed and species to be protected in the long term.

Actions to manage threats may include weeding, controlling erosion or revegetation, and monitoring the results.

Species

The 440 or so site-managed species include:

  • beach stone-curlew
  • creeping hop-bush
  • eastern bristlebird.
