Project update
Construction of the new amenities building at Barrenjoey Headland is now complete.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) worked with Aileen Sage Architects to design the new amenities in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, which include 3 unisex toilets with one baby change facility, and a drinking water fountain with a water bottle refill station.
This construction was completed by the contractor, Carfax Constructions Pty Ltd.
NPWS staff from the Sydney North Area sourced, propagated and planted native vegetation around the building. These plants will take some time to establish but will allow the new building to blend in with the natural landscape.
As part of the project, important maintenance works have also been undertaken to the Barrenjoey access trail to improve public access and safety. These works included the importation of approximately 60 tonnes of crushed sandstone materials to level and fill uneven sections of the trail.
NPWS is pleased to have completed this project for the community and visitors to Barrenjoey. The building officially opened on 7 February 2025.
