NSW Koala Summit

The NSW Koala Summit was held in Sydney on Friday 22 March 2024. The summit was an opportunity for key stakeholders to come together to review the NSW Koala Strategy and shape actions to conserve koalas in New South Wales.

 

On Friday 22 March 2024, 140 stakeholders from across the state came together at Taronga Zoo to discuss the effectiveness of koala conservation efforts and make recommendations to shape the future of the NSW Koala Strategy. The summit was a key consultation point in the review of the NSW Koala Strategy.

Attendees represented a diverse range of groups, including First Nations communities, conservation organisations, wildlife rehabilitators, landholders, researchers and academics, community and Landcare groups, as well as representatives from local councils, the Australian Government and the NSW Government.

The Minister for the Environment, Penny Sharpe, opened the summit.

Discussion paper released

New koala plan released

A new koala plan will be released to ensure the long-term survival of koalas in the wild in New South Wales.
