Central Mallee Reserves Plan of Management
Incorporating Yathong Nature Reserve, Nombinnie Nature Reserve, Nombinnie State Conservation Area and Round Hill Nature Reserve
Aboriginal people have had a long association with this area, many through employment on former pastoral stations. The Central Mallee reserves are also important for protecting Aboriginal cultural heritage.
The plan will enable the establishment of a 40,000-hectare feral predator-free area in Yathong Nature Reserve, as part of a network of areas set aside by the National Parks and Wildlife Service for reintroducing declining native animal species.
This plan of management replaces the plan adopted in 1996. The plan should be read in conjunction with the Central Mallee Reserves Planning Considerations, which contains detailed information on reserve values.
