NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) engaged and supported Thirriwirri, an Aboriginal-owned and run business, to facilitate the Stage 1 regional Aboriginal workshops.

These workshops were part of the first stage of a 3-stage consultation process to develop a new model for Aboriginal joint management of NSW national parks. Consultation participants included a range of stakeholders from local Aboriginal land councils, Elders, traditional owner groups, Aboriginal organisations, as well as individual community members.

Thirriwirri’s independent report provides an overview of the consultation approach and a summary of the discussions with Aboriginal people from across New South Wales.
