Retaining an appropriate area of land, or curtilage, around a heritage item can be integral and essential to retaining and interpreting its significance.
Identifying a heritage curtilage is usually straightforward. However, sometimes complex cases arise. These guidelines present various issues to be taken into account when defining heritage curtilages.
