This review of environmental factors (REF) and related documents were placed on public exhibition from 3 September to 3 October 2015. Public comment was sought on extending the shared-use Thredbo Valley Track within Kosciuszko National Park. Work commenced in 2016 and will be completed in stages over multiple years, subject to funding.
The REF:
- proposes to undertake an analysis of the environmental, economic, physical and social implications of the proposed track
- describes the environmental impacts associated with the proposed track and to develop environmental safeguards for each environmental component where deemed necessary.
Submissions received are detailed in a submissions report (PDF 330KB).
The Regional Operations Group, Office of Environment and Heritage considered the proposal in accordance with Section 111 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and granted approval subject to the conditions detailed in Schedule 1 – Conditions of approval.
