This report was part of a wider study into gendered experiences of national parks, their encompassing landscapes, how national parks are presented to the public and how people respond to them.

The report shows that women in their diversity have been active historical protagonists across outback landscapes. However, they remain marginalised and often excluded in mainstream historical interpretations and popular conceptions of outback parks

The report was commissioned by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and has been retained for historical heritage purposes.
