Bongil Bongil National Park protects 6 threatened ecological communities and several threatened plant and animal species, including a koala population of statewide significance. The park provides a range of nature-based recreational activities including bushwalking, cycling, fishing, beach walking, birdwatching, canoeing and opportunities for horse riding.

The Bongil Bongil National Park Plan of Management assists NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service in managing recreational activities to enhance the visitor experience while protecting the park’s important natural and cultural values. The plan provides for the protection of koalas including habitat rehabilitation, enables management of significant additions to the park, and provides increased opportunities for cycling and horse riding.

This is the second plan of management for this park and replaces the plan adopted in 1999.

A map is included within the plan of management. A more detailed map is also available (PDF 1.9MB).

Amendment

Amendment to the Bongil Bongil National Park Plan of Management (2024).

The Bongil Bongil National Park Plan of Management was amended in 2024. The amendment enables the establishment of a multi-use track for walking and cycling in Bongil Bongil National Park.

The approximately 400 metres long new multi-use track will improve access to the park for neighbours and the broader community. It will better connect adjacent urban areas on the park’s northern boundary with popular visitor destinations in the park including Bonville Creek and Bongil day use area.

This amendment has been incorporated into the plan of management.
