Urban salinity is recognised as a problem in western Sydney with the potential to affect large areas of new development in the near future.
To a lesser extent salinity is identified as a problem only in the Hunter Region coal mining areas of the Manning and Karuah basins and the southern tableland areas around Braidwood and Goulburn.
The audit found that in general salinity is not considered an issue for the coastal regions outside of the western Sydney area and the Hunter.
