Atriplex rhagodioides - removal from endangered species list

The Scientific Committee, established by the Threatened Species Conservation Act, has made a Final Determination to remove Atriplex rhagodioides F. Muell. from Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Act by omitting reference to this species as an Endangered Species. The omission of species from the Schedules is provided for by Part 2 of the Act.

NSW Scientific Committee - final determination

The Scientific Committee has found that:

1. Atriplex rhagodioides is currently listed as an Endangered Species on Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Threatened Species Conservation Act.

2. The New South Wales specimen quoted in Flora of Australia (1984) Volume 4 page 131 as Atriplex rhagodioides, has since been redetermined as Atriplex nummularia (Dr S. Jacobs 16/10/85).

3. There is no other known records of Atriplex rhagodioides in NSW.

4. In view of 1, 2, and 3 above, the Scientific Committee is of the opinion that Atriplex rhagodioides is not known to occur in NSW and consequently does not satisfy the criteria for listing as an Endangered Species and should be omitted from Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Act.
