The koala has suffered a dramatic decline in numbers and distribution since the arrival of Europeans in Australia. Most koala populations in New South Wales now survive in increasingly degraded and isolated patches of habitat, which are subject to ongoing pressures.
The NSW Koala Strategy 2018 highlights the need to support local communities to deliver on-ground actions that reduce threats to and protect koala populations. These restoration guidelines provide information for local communities to use when revegetating koala habitat across NSW.
