Snowies Iconic Walk

The Snowies Iconic Walk project proposed construction of new tracks, and upgrades to existing tracks, to deliver a world-class walking trail through stunning alpine scenery that links the 5 existing resort villages at Thredbo, Charlotte Pass, Guthega, Perisher and Lake Crackenback in Kosciuszko National Park.

This Review of Environmental Factors (REF) and related documents were placed on public exhibition from 2 August to 2 September 2019. Public comment was sought to inform the alignment and construction of the Snowies Iconic Walk.

The REF was prepared by Biosis Pty Ltd in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act). The REF described the proposed activity, documented the likely impacts of the proposed activity on the environment and detailed protective measures to be implemented.

Submissions received are detailed in a submissions report.

The Biodiversity and Conservation Division, Environment Energy and Science in the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, considered the proposal in accordance with Section 111 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and granted approval subject to the conditions detailed in Schedule 1 – Conditions of approval.
