Lodge an offset obligation

To monitor the operation of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, the department asks all decision makers to notify it of the determination of every development or activity to which the scheme applies.

Decision makers who should notify the department of a determination or approval include:

  • local councils
  • Part 5 authorities
  • the Native Vegetation Panel.

The notification process is as follows:

  1. The decision maker downloads and completes the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme – Notification of Determination form (DOCX 91KB).
  2. The decision maker uploads the form (and any relevant attachments) to the relevant Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System case or alternatively emails the completed form and any required attachments, including a copy of the determination and any conditions of approval, to: [email protected]
  3. The Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System records the determination outcomes.

This is an interim process. The department is developing new processes to capture this information directly within the Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System.
