The panel provides advice to the:
- Minister for the Environment or the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service on matters relating to the identification of the heritage value, and the management of sustainable wild horse populations within Kosciuszko National Park
- Secretary of the department on preparing and amending any draft wild horse heritage management plan.
Membership
Consistent with the Kosciuszko Wild Horse Heritage Act 2018, the panel is made up of 8 members appointed by the Minister for the Environment.
Mr John Pierce AO is Chair of the Panel. Mr Pierce is an eminent and respected former public official who has led state and federal government agencies.
Unfortunately, in the past, views and opinions on wild horse management have been expressed to previous panel members in ways that are not respectful, productive or in line with acceptable community standards. As such, details of other panel members will not be publicly disclosed.

Due to the panel's workload, frequency of meetings and number of submissions received, the panel will generally not respond to individual correspondence. However, the panel may choose to respond at its discretion.
When writing to the panel, please ensure your input is relevant to the implementation of the Kosciuszko National Park Wild Horse Heritage Management Plan.
