Bourke air quality monitoring station

The Bourke air quality monitoring station is located at the Bureau of Meteorology. This site is in the Western Local Land Services Natural Resource Management (NRM) Region.

An estimated 2,300 people live within 25 km of this monitoring site (2016 Census).

  • Commissioned: 2007
  • Latitude: 30⁰ 2' 10.32''S
  • Longitude: 145⁰ 57' 7.56''E
  • Elevation: 109.7 metres

The following air pollutants are measured at this station:

  • total suspended particles (TSP)
  • fine particles as PM2.5
  • fine particles as PM10.

Data from the site is reported as hourly updated particle concentrations.

Instrument limitations – Most rural network stations use mid-cost indicative monitors which respond to all aerosols, including dust, sea salt and smoke. Singlechannel DustTraks (TSP only) will also respond to fog. Care must be taken in interpreting the data compared with Air NEPM standards without additional information.
