This review identified evidence of koala use for 137 tree species across New South Wales. The patterns of koala tree use across New South Wales and at regional levels reflect the complex interplay between the requirements of individual koalas (for food, shelter and social needs) and access to trees of a necessary quality and diversity to satisfy those needs.

In 2019 this list was refined to 123 species in the Koala Habitat Information Base Technical Guide. Our Local government resources for koala conservation provide further information on koala tree use across New South Wales.
