Native animal keeper record book

Licence holders must keep records of their native animal pets in an electronic record book or ‘e-book’.

Use the online native animal keeper record book to maintain and submit your native animal records and save on postage and handling costs.

It is a condition of your licence to keep your native animal records up-to-date. This includes records of:

  • native animals you own
  • details of how you acquired and disposed of them
  • breeding events
  • deaths or escapes.

These records help us keep track of the supply chain and ensure that captive-bred animals, not animals taken from the wild, are being bought and sold.

If you previously lodged your records using a paper animal record book or the NSW Native Animal Keeper Electronic Record Keeping System ('e-book') you will not see these records. They are currently kept in another system. We recommend you always keep a copy of your records.

Maintain and submit your records

Keeping and submitting accurate records is a condition of your licence, even if you have no native animals or there has been no change in the number or type of animals you hold since you last submitted your records.

Your online records must be submitted with the Wildlife Team in April each year for the previous 12 months (April to March). If you choose to submit records in batches as you go throughout the year, you need to ensure that you have submitted all batches by the end of April.

Late submissions (after 30 April) may result in a penalty.
