Mount Grenfell Historic Site Aboriginal Ownership and Leaseback Agreement
The Mount Grenfell Historic Site is leased back to the NSW Government and run through a board of management. The Cobar Local Aboriginal Land Council holds the deeds for the site on behalf of Aboriginal owners.
The site is jointly managed by Aboriginal owners and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), part of the Office of Environment and Heritage. The board of management has a majority of Aboriginal owners, along with community and NPWS representation.
Mount Grenfell Historic Site is an Aboriginal rock art site located about 70 kilometres from Cobar in central western New South Wales. The site includes hundreds of rock art drawings that represent Aboriginal life and it is deeply significant to the Ngiyampaa people.
