Yathong Nature Reserve feral predator–free area: update October 2024

Yathong Nature Reserve feral-predator-free area is under construction.

 

Construction is underway

Construction work has begun with Stage 1 within the northern part of Yathong feral predator-free area. The site protects an area of 8,260 ha and has involved the construction of over 40 km of conservation fencing.

Construction works include:

  • upgrading and establishing perimeter trails
  • upgrading of internal trails (underway)
  • construction of 40 km conservation fencing (underway).

Updates on local conditions

No impact will occur to main roads and travel through Yathong Nature Reserve remains open during the construction period.

The following roads will be subject to temporary closures over the course of the construction phase:

  • Western Fire Trail
  • Green Management Trail.
