South Coast national parks hiring now
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is excited to announce it is hiring 7 new employees to fill vital roles on the beautiful South Coast.
Stretching from Wollongong to the Victorian Border, NPWS South Coast Branch manages 96 national parks, flora reserves, nature reserves and other protected lands along more than 400 km of spectacular coastline, and its staff are its backbone.
The NSW South Coast is rich in experiences, from walking on the world’s whitest sand at Jervis Bay to rainforests in the Southern Highlands, as well as countless spots for swimming, birdwatching and hiking.
As a member of the NPWS, each working day is a new adventure: one day you might be working on the Light-to-Light walking track, the next undertaking weed control in a protected rainforest area, the next heading out to sea as part of a whale disentanglement operation.
NPWS is looking to fill multiple field roles including Field Supervisors and Senior Field Officers, and recruitment is open now.

Quotes attributable to NPWS South Coast Field Supervisor Nicki:
'I’ve experienced some incredible days on the job, from working at the remote Green Cape Lighthouse visitor precinct to remote area firefighting and delivering pest and weed programs, no two days are ever the same.
'I joined the team as a Field Officer and have been blessed with incredible opportunities to challenge myself, develop skills and lead teams of very talented people.
'In 2019–2020, I coordinated aircraft in the Blue Mountains during the summer bushfires, helping to protect lives and property, demonstrating the deeply influential and impactful work you could be a part of.
'I would encourage anybody who loves the Australian bush and is looking to make a positive contribution to our environment to consider a career with the National Parks and Wildlife Service.'
Quotes attributable to NPWS South Coast Director Julie Peterson:
'We are on the hunt for problem solvers who have a passion for the outdoors, who can use initiative and think on their feet and who will bring a good practical approach to their work.
'Every day at NPWS brings fresh and exciting challenges, and you'll be backed by a team of supportive peers and provided with ongoing training opportunities to enhance your skills and further your professional development.
'I’m hoping to see some passionate locals throw their hat in the ring for these exciting roles and become a vital part of protecting more than 2 million ha of National Parks land on the South Coast.'
