Road upgrades underway in Timmallallie National Park
Road repairs and upgrades are underway on several creek crossings in Timmallallie National Park to improve access for staff, visitors and emergency services after significant rainfall or during fires.
Eight new concrete causeways will be constructed between Monday 22 July and Saturday 31 August to replace flood-damaged infrastructure and ensure they are more resilient for future flood events.
The following roads will be impacted by closures during the works:
- Top Crossing at Dandry Creek south of Dandry Gorge (Sculptures in the Scrub will remain open via Top Crossing Rd)
- Gibbican Road
- County Line Rd between Burma Rd and Sunday Rd
- Rocky Rd between Mistletoe Rd and Sunday Rd
- Rocky Rd between No.1 Break Rd and Gibbican Rd
- No.1 Break Rd between Rocky Rd and Newell Highway
Roads will be closed for up to 4 days at each causeway to allow for construction and concrete curing time. Road closures may impact travel times.
Contact the Pilliga Forest Discovery Centre on 02 6843 4011 for more details and to check alternate routes when roads are closed.
Repairs to minor crossings have already been completed. Additional road works, including grading, will occur over the coming months but will not impact vehicular access.
The repairs are funded through the state and federal governments Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement.
