The Upper Falls Visitor Precinct of Ebor Falls has reopened just in time for the holiday season.

This iconic natural attraction, nestled within Guy Fawkes River National Park on the New England tablelands, has received a transformative upgrade following significant damage caused by the 2019–20 bushfires.

As part of the $5.5 million upgrade project, the Upper Falls Visitor Precinct now features 2 brand new wheelchair accessible viewing platforms, which provide visitors with spectacular views of Ebor Falls and the picturesque gorge leading into Guy Fawkes River National Park.

New wheelchair-accessible pathways have been constructed throughout the precinct, linking the viewing platforms with an expanded an upgraded car park.

The car park can now accommodate 25 vehicles, including 2 dedicated disabled parking bays, as well as designated spaces for caravans, trailers, and motorhomes.

The precincts visitor amenities have also been upgraded, with flushing toilets and 3 new picnic shelters equipped with gas barbecues available on site, providing a comfortable setting for families and friends to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

The 700-metre Ebor Village Walking Track has been resurfaced, allowing visitors to easily stroll from the Upper Falls Visitor Precinct to the charming Ebor township and back.

The final component of the $5.5 million upgrade – the Lower Falls precinct – is expected to be completed in April 2024.

The upgraded Lower Falls precinct will feature two new lookouts, picnic shelters, amenities, and an upgraded concrete pathway between the upper and lower precincts.

Ebor Falls is visited by around 140,000 people each year and is one of Australia’s most scenic multi-step waterfalls.

Quotes attributable to National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Principal Project Officer Dirk Richards:

“Ebor Falls has long been a beloved destination for both locals and tourists, known for its stunning waterfalls and picturesque scenery.

After temporarily closing the precinct earlier this year, NPWS were able to fast-track construction so that the Upper Falls precinct could reopen in time for Christmas.

There’s no better place to visit this holiday season. Ebor Falls is widely considered to be one of the best multi-tiered waterfalls in New South Wales.

With new picnic shelters, BBQs and amenities, the whole family can come for a picnic and spend the whole day soaking in the serenity at this sensational spot.”
